Health in Action – Summer 2024
This edition features a “Guatemala in Focus” appeal, which explores our collaborative work with Indigenous Maya communities to improve maternal and child health. Health in Action summer 2024 highlights efforts with pregnant people, new mothers, Traditional Birth Attendants, and the Ministry of Health on critical issues such as nutrition and culturally appropriate healthcare.
We are also working together to use our voice to address climate injustice, one of the root causes of inequality. Specifically, in this issue of Health in Action discusses the latest report on drug policy, “Revealing the Missing Link to Climate Justice: Drug Policy”. The report draws upon research linking the drug trade and cartel activities to deforestation of key areas of biodiversity, making a compelling plea to the environmental movement to recognize and urgently act on the truth: the prohibition of drugs is a barrier to climate justice.
