Karel

My name is Karel, and I work with the Namibia Planned Parenthood Association at a health extension officer. That means that I visit people in remote, marginalised communities to ensure that they understand their rights and the health services available to them. We make sure women know to go for antenatal care, and that they can use the birth waiting huts next to the clinics. We teach about health education and family planning. There are challenges – it’s very remote and the villages are far away. Sometimes it can be difficult, but even if a few people listen, they will spread knowledge themselves and we will have made an impact. I can already see the impact.
