Where we work

We have identified priority areas, in strategic partnership with Health Poverty Action Global, to work together with health workers, communities and activists across 3 countries to improve health and challenge the causes of poverty.

India

Together with Find Your Feet, we are working to help rural communities to access their rights. Meet Gulshan, a young mother who is supporting her community to demand the services they are entitled to.

Sierra Leone

We are working with communities to help them get access to better maternal health services, and to prevent the spread of malaria. Meet Amie, a maternal health promoter who is helping pregnant women to get the healthcare they need.

Somaliland

We are working with communities and the government to improve access to health, and tackle issues such as violence against women and FGM. Meet Aamiina, a young mother making use of the only shelter home for women in Somaliland.

Kenya

We work with communities to improve their access to health, and support them to campaign against harmful practices such as FGM in their communities. Meet Mama Mathowe, a former circumciser who is now speaking out against FGM in her community.

Rwanda

We work with young people in Rwanda to ensure girls have the facilities and support they need to stay in school all year round, and that all young people have the training they need to create a livelihood for themselves after they finish school. Malawi

Together with Find Your Feet Malawi, we are working with rural communities to ensure farmers have the training they need to grow enough food, and everyone has access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Meet Esther, who lives in Emoneni village in Malawi, to hear her story of getting access to clean water in her village.

Zimbabwe

Together with Find Your Feet, we work with farmers in rural areas to give them the training they need to grow enough nutritious food for their families all year round. Meet Sanisai and Peter, who have used their training on farming and nutrition to grow more food, and earn an income for their family.

Namibia

In the remote area of Tsumkwe, we work together with the indigenous San people to improve their access to healthcare and education services. Meet Xao, a mother who is pregnant with her second child, and shares with us the importance of attending the health centre.

China

Having completed our work to spread awareness about the health problems caused by tobacco, we are starting a new project supporting ethnic minority groups in Yunnan Province to access the government services they are entitled to.

Laos

In southern Laos the rate of malaria is particularly high, accounting for 95% of cases in Laos. We work with communities who live, work and travel in the region to spread awareness about malaria prevention and provide treatment. Cambodia

We work in the remote border regions of Cambodia to improve access to malaria diagnosis and treatment services and raise awareness of malaria prevention.

Vietnam

In the remote, border areas of Vietnam, we are working with communities to tackle malaria. Meet Deiu, a community health worker using technology to track malaria outbreaks.

UK

We are working with local partners to reflect upon the isolation and mental health challenges that arise from misunderstanding and stigma around neurodivergence. Through storytelling, the project seeks to increase empathy and understanding within communities; helping to reduce stigma and support the mental wellbeing of neurodivergent people.

Myanmar

In the remote and mountainous regions of Kachin, access to healthcare is difficult for many communities, who live far from the nearest health facility. We are working with communities, the government, and health workers like Khao to extend the reach of health services to even the most remote locations.

Ethiopia

We work with nomadic pastoralists living in South Omo and Dollo Ado to improve their access to culturally appropriate maternal and child health services.

Guatemala

In the remote highlands of Guatemala, we are working with indigenous communities to improve their access to culturally appropriate healthcare. Meet Adela, a traditional birth attendant who has attended training to improve her medical knowledge.
